Nearly one in five adults, or more than 40 million Americans, say they don't have adequate access to the health care they need because they can't afford it, according to the Health, United States, 2007 Report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
With spring break upon us and summer vacations right around the corner, you or some of your patients may be planning an out-of-the-country trip to a resort or an exotic location. A federal law requiring the use of tamper-proof prescription pads for prescriptions for Medicaid (MassHealth) members went into effect on April 1, 2008. The requirement, which was originally scheduled to go into effect on October 1, 2007, was delayed for six months because of concerns expressed by the American Dental Association and other organizations that providers were not being given enough advance notice of the new law.
