The MDS Foundation is dedicated to using its resources to improve the oral health care of Massachusetts residents, provide access to care for the underserved population, and enhance educational opportunities for those who wish to pursue a career as a dental hygienist, dental assistant, or laboratory technician. The Foundation is also committed to partnering with similar organizations with comparable goals to further these causes and other endeavors where dentistry can make a positive impact.

History

The MDS Foundation was created in 1999 as the charitable arm of its parent organization, the Massachusetts Dental Society. In 2002, the Foundation formed a Board of Directors and hosted its first special event, a Golf Tournament. Since then, the Foundation has grown tremendously with the addition of a Casino Night event at Yankee Dental Congress, a Wine Tasting in the fall, an Annual Giving Campaign, and the MAC Van Program.

The Mobile Access to Care (MAC) Van

In February 2007, the MDS Foundation began the highly anticipated Mobile Access to Care (MAC) Van program. The MAC Van is currently traveling to area schools, Head Start programs, YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other neighborhood sites providing free services to children in need of dental care.
